When I used to work at a local internet café I used to come across the “private security sector provident fund”. All I saw was that the person who submitted these documents was previously a security company employee. I wondered and came to sit down and see what is this “private security sector provident fund” exactly is? I believe that if you are a security employee you are aware that after employment you can claim a “private security sector provident fund” because to be honest this was claimed by previous security employees. Now, today I am going to share with you some of the basics that I have learned about the “private security sector provident fund” …

According to psspfund, the Fund is a
Privately Administered Fund, registered in terms of the Pension Fund Act of 1956

The benefit included:
- Retirement
- Disability
- Death and
Funeral Benefits
- and apply
to the employees of the Private Security Sector as per the provision of the
Sectoral Determination and rules of the fund.
I hope you got what
really is the purpose and the meaning of the “private security sector provident
fund” … However, I want us to focus on how to claim the private security sector
provident fund…
Documents required to claim “private security sector provident fund”
Members who
claim must have been retrenched, dismissed, or resigned, then they should complete
the claim and submit it. Below I will share with you the supporting documents to
accompany your claim form:
- Certified
copy of member ID Document; If you are using a smart card ID, the copy must
have both sides copied.

The psspfund says that after you
have submitted the form and the supporting documents, the admin of the Fund
will process them. And again, it is said that no claim will be processed with incomplete information on the member claim form and or missing documents…
In my experience with the previous security officer who submitted the claim
form, they used to call the Fund after the submission to verify with them if
they have received their claim and again verify with the Fund admin if the
documents are fully completed with no missing documentation.
Yes, after
submission of the claim is suggested to call them for verification and to
speed up the process with them…
