How to apply for the R350 grant
You must be unemployed and not receive any type of social assistance, unemployment insurance payments, a stipend from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, or any other type of government Covid-19 response assistance. Caregivers and asylum seekers with sufficient documents are now eligible for the grant. Asylum seekers must have a valid section 22 permit or visa on or before March 15, 2020.
Everyone who is eligible, ages
18 to 59, must apply for this grant, even if their previous application was
approved.
Please submit your re-application
online at https://srd.sassa.gov.za.
You will receive a message
requesting your banking information once your application has been approved. To
guarantee that payment arrives at the correct recipient, please make sure that
the bank account or cellphone number supplied for payment is registered in the
name of the accepted grant application.
The grant will be deposited into the beneficiary's bank account. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will pay persons who do not have bank accounts through the South African Post Office (Sapo)/Post Bank or through bank mobile money transfers (cash send).
After August 31, 2021, any
applicant whose application is approved but not paid because they cannot be
located forfeits the money to the state. They are unable to file a claim
against the government.
It is advisable not to apply
when you are working.
Sassa and the South African
Post Office have been working hard to discover additional means for individuals
to access their money, in order to reduce the need for people to queue. Sassa
has implemented a new update to pay beneficiaries, based on my experience in
applying.
