How To Fix WIFI Connected But No Internet Access (Either Windows, 10, 8, Or 7)?
Here you will learn a number of ways to fix a WIFI
connection problem (it says connected but no internet access). This is often seen
by a yellow triangle on the WIFI icon and or seen when you click on your Wi-Fi
icon then see it saying “Wi-Fi-connected, but no internet access” and also not
getting you access to the internet when you browse a particular search term on
search engines… they are different possible reasons… this problem it could be a
problem with the service provider and a network configuration setting on your laptop…
Now let’s try to work on the problem and have our laptop connected
to the WIFI network again…
Before changing any setting on your laptop first check if this
problem is coming from your service provider (Wi-Fi router) …
To check the problem with the service provider, connect your
laptop with a network cable (which will be running from the laptop to the Wi-Fi)
if the triangle keeps showing after connecting your Wi-Fi with a cable this
means the problem is with your service provider (or Wi-Fi router) – I suggest
that you fix that with your service provider. However, if the yellow triangle disappears
then check your Wi-Fi router and test it with another laptop by connecting it wirelessly.
If the other device can connect, then your laptop network configuration
settings are corrupt (meaning we should now try to work on them) …
How To Resolve This Problem?
1. Run Network Troubleshoot
- To get the troubleshoot go to the Wi-Fi icon “right-click on it then click troubleshoot to begin.
- You will get feedback on what is detected, this resolves the problem automatically
- now, restart your laptop reconnect your Wi-Fi router, and see if it didn’t connect…
Another way to get this troubleshoot is to go to:
- Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Internet Connections > Run the Troubleshoot…
- Followed by the same feedback and resolved automatically. Restart your laptop and connect it again to the Wi-Fi router to check if is fixed.
2. If that fails, Reset Network Adaptors
To do it:
- Go to Settings > Network & internet > Network Reset > Reset Now (close all the applications before clicking reset now) > Yes > Close and Wait for the laptop to restart.
- Then, try to reconnect the Wi-Fi router and see if the problem is still persisting…
3. If again it fails, Reset Window Socket
API
Go
to window search (type in “cmd”), then right-click on the “Command Prompt” and “Run
as Administrator” … then type in the following commands:
- netsh winsock reset (followed by clicking Enter)
- netsh int ip reset (followed by clicking Enter)
- ipconfig /release (followed by clicking Enter)
- ipconfig /renew (followed by clicking Enter)
- ipconfig /flushdns (followed by clicking Enter)
Close
and restart your laptop and see if you won…
4. If again not working, let us try Reinstall
Network Drivers
- You can do it by uninstalling them and letting the laptop reinstall them upon restarting…
- To do that open window search and type in “Device Manage”> Network Adaptors > look for Wi-Fi Adapter (written “Wireless”), Right-click on it, and select Uninstall… then restart your laptop and check the connections again… the Network Drivers should Reinstall automatically.
5. Install Default Network Drivers (or
rather say, Update the Drivers)
- Click Device Manager > Update Drivers > Browse my Computer for Driver Software > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer (check your Wi-Fi model description to choose from the list) > Select Wi-Fi Model Description or Code > Next
- Then restart the laptop and see if the changes were made…
6. Check Power Management Settings
- Right Click on Wi-Fi Network Icon > Open Network & Internet Settings > Change Adapter Options > Right Click on the Wi-Fi > Select Properties > Configure > Select Power Management > Untick the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” > Then click OK…
- Don’t forget to restart the laptop and reconnect to see any changes made…
7. Lastly you can try to Check IP
Configurations
- Right Click on Wi-Fi Network Icon > Open Network & Internet Settings > Select Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > It should have “Obtain an IP address automatically” ticked on…

hope this article helped… Good luck!
