[TO REGISTER FOR NBT TEST, BOOK NOW]
After completing my matriculation, I never took an NBT Test. However, it was only after I finished my matric that I learned that matric students are subjected to the NBT Test. What is the NBT Test, I wondered? I had to sit down and do some research on it, but I had no idea what I was doing at the moment. Until I went to enroll at a university and overheard other potential students discussing the NBT Test and how it can be applied for or booked online. But what exactly is the NBT test?
The National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) are exams for first-year candidates into higher education institutions, according to the Central University of Technology, Free State. The NBTs were created to assess a writer's capacity to apply knowledge in Academic Literacy, Quantitative Literacy, and Mathematics to tertiary coursework needs. They go on to add that all potential UFS students must take the National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) BEFORE registering for classes and applying for admission. They recommend that prospective students take the NBTs during their senior year of high school.
Now, I'm sure you understand why you need to apply and take the NBT Test... Although I am not familiar with all of South Africa's universities, I believe it is a good idea to simply register and take the NBT Test, as you may be unable to enroll if you have not taken the NBT Test. The NBT Test was bought specifically for Grade 12 or Matriculants at my school so that they could write it as soon as possible. This was useful when they applied to universities that required or accepted applicants who had taken the test. Yes, indeed! The test should be written as soon as possible.
BEFORE WE GO ANY FURTHER, HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The Academic and
Quantitative Literacy (AQL) test and the Mathematics (MAT) test
are the two assessments offered by NBT. The MAT test is typically taken by
students who want to apply to courses that involve mathematics, such as
engineering and science. Each university, however, has its own requirements...
More information on which test you should take can be found at the university
of your choice.
The duration of each test is
3 hours. Learn more here! Both of the tests will cost
R200 (MAT and AQL), while AQL only cost R100
LET'S HAVE A LOOK AT THE MAJOR QUESTION NOW! HOW DO I APPLY OR ARRANGE A TEST?
To apply or book, you must
do so online, using either a laptop or a smartphone. To complete the
registration, you will need the following items:
- Your official identification book (if you are not a citizen of South Africa, you will need your passport) Date when you want to write
- City and site where you want to write
- NBT criteria from the institutions where you plan to apply (allow 4 weeks to receive results) • A pen and paper to write out your EasyPay number and username.
Here's How To Do It Step-By-Step:
You'll need to enter your
first and last names, as well as your ID number, date of birth, and email
address. When creating a password, I recommend using a combination of
characters (for example, Gold@2000). Simply fill out the form and you'll
be done in minutes!
AGAIN, IT IS SUGGESTED THAT EVERYONE REGISTERING OR REGISTERED TO TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING:
According to the NBT
Project, neither the test you must write nor the date for submitting results
is determined by the NBT Project.
The requirements for most higher education institutions in South Africa are published on their websites and in their prospectuses.
YOUR LOGIN (ID OR PASSPORT NUMBER) AND PASSWORD ARE USED TO:
- Finish the registration procedure if you haven't already done so
- Update your personal information
- Request a change to the test date or location
- Verify payment so that your results can be released using the EasyPay number assigned to you upon registration.
After you have completed you will receive an SMS and an email confirming your test venue two days before your test.
