Nasreddine Nabi to Add 3 Young Talents to Kaizer Chiefs First Team Next Season
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is preparing to promote three young players from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team to the senior squad. This move comes as part of the club’s rebuild following a tough 2024/25 season.
Fresh Talent After a Tough Season
Although the club made several signings last year and added new names like Glody Lilepo, Thabo Cele, and Tashreeq Morris in January, the team still struggled in the league. Despite this, they had a great run in the Nedbank Cup, knocking out Mamelodi Sundowns and earning a spot in the final against rivals Orlando Pirates on May 10, 2025.
Meet the Future Stars
According to DDC coach Vela Khumalo, the following players will join the senior team for pre-season training:
- Kabelo “Matlaba” Nkgwesa
- Thulani Mabaso
- Takalani Mazhamba
These young talents played a big role in helping the DDC team win the league title under Khumalo’s leadership.
“This is the best year of my coaching career,” said Khumalo, who also helped the U-17 national team qualify for the World Cup.
Chiefs’ Youth Policy in Action
Kaizer Chiefs has a history of promoting youth players. Stars like Mfundo Vilakazi and Wandile Duba came through the same development system and are now making their mark in the senior team.
What’s Next for Amakhosi?
Coach Nabi is also planning more signings for the summer transfer window. With the club’s rebuilding phase coming to an end, next season’s performance will be critical for his future with the team.
Meanwhile, Chiefs have added a Bafana Bafana international to the squad to cover for injuries, showing that the team is serious about strengthening every area.
